This short silent Super 8 film is a portrait of Shyoko Hiraga, the aunt of Pia's mother Katherine Toda. They would have been the same age if Kate had not passed in 1963. Shyoko did the voice overs for Mine Okuba's text from Citizen 13660, for Just Beyond Hope.

Shyoko is 89 came out of the project “One Take Super 8”. All of the editing was done in camera and the film was presented just as it was shot (Black and White Kodak Tri-X 200D). The film was screened at Western Front in Vancouver, Canada.
