Location: Vancouver Island, BC        Medium: Site specific sculpture, all natural materials

Foret-Frontiere Article

Massie was invited through Quebec artists' collective Boreal Multimedia to live and work collectively in the territory of the Hochuktlisat-h community in the T'iitskin Paawats: a sacred area, also known as the Thunder Birds' nest that was threatened with large scale logging. Although the artists worked in different disciplines, they were all united by a deep commitment to social justice and the environment. In this retreat, Pia Massie created the land based and site specific installations above.
